About Oasis Football for Life...
Oasis Football for Life is an Oasis initiative serving as a central supportive, consultative, and resourcing body for the implementation, development and monitoring of football projects across the Oasis family.
Across the world in the communities where Oasis works, children and young people are at risk of early sexual activity, vulnerable to HIV/AIDS and other Sexually Transmitted Diseases, and often engage in drug and alcohol abuse, violence, and other anti-social behaviour.
Oasis Football for Life projects work with these vulnerable and marginalised children and young people, using football as the medium for building confidence and self-esteem, and teaching valuable life skills, helping them to make healthy and informed life choices.
Oasis Football for Life currently has a primary focus on projects in Uganda, India, Mozambique and the UK, but also supports projects in Zimbabwe and Kyrgyzstan.
Research has shown that sporting activity has a significant impact on the physical, emotional, intellectual and social development of children and young people.
As attitudes and social norms are adopted and developed at a young age and become entrenched during the process of childhood and into adolescence, Oasis has found football to be the perfect medium for helping to shape positive social development to bring about long term and lasting positive character development.
This takes place through an integrated process leading to a communal and relational mind set, which is key to community transformation, and supports the wider vision of Oasis in creating inclusive vibrant hubs.
